Entries are now open for Co Leitrim Holstein Friesian breeders to compete in the 30th Anniversary Diageo Baileys Champion Dairy Cow Competition.

Entries are now open for Co Leitrim Holstein Friesian breeders to compete in the 30th Anniversary Diageo Baileys Champion Dairy Cow Competition.

This competition is expected to attract entries from the top Holstein Friesian breeders across the island of Ireland. Entrants will be vying for a top prize of €2,500 and a reserve prize of €1000. With the winners presentation to be made at the Virginia Show in Co Cavan on 21 August.

Entries are open now for the top title of ‘Diageo Baileys Irish Champion Dairy Cow’; along with the cheque for €2,500 and winner will take home the Virginia Milk Products trophy. €1000 will also be awarded to the breeder of the ‘Reserve Champion’. The Best Heifer in Milk prize has a fund of €1,700 with 1st place earning €500, 2nd place €300 and €200 for 3rd. In addition, €100 will be awarded to entrants placing from 4th to 10th inclusively.
