The Leitrim Harriers Hunt enjoyed an excellent review in a recent edition of the prestigious Irish Field equestrian newspaper. Leading hunt journalist, Noel Mullins, spent a day with the hunt on the occasion of their annual John Mee Charity Hunt which set off from McKeon’s Bar in Cloone.
It was a great day and the Leitrim hunts-people were joined by members of the Ballymacad Hunt for the day.
The Harriers were formed just ten years ago and are rapidly emerging as one of the top packs in the country under the stewardship of huntsman, James Mee, who is a brother of the late John Mee. Thomas Reynolds is the current chairman whilst Liam Davis and Padraic Brady from Drumlish, are two of the Masters. The third Master is Colm McGuckian, who commutes to hunt from his business in New York during the season.
The Harriers will continue to hunt over the winter and towards spring and have paid tribute to the ongoing support of local farmers and communities. Meanwhile one of the big social events of 2013 promises to the Hunt Ball which will be held in New York, the city that never sleeps!
