Arrangements for the staging of the 34th O’Carolan Harp and Traditional Music Festival & Summer School in Keadue, Co. Roscommon are well advanced.
The Festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend from Friday August 3 to Monday August 6.
Keadue Church is the venue for the the opening concert which has a theme entitled “Carolans Call” an evening of song & music from the harp world of the 1800s.
This will be followed by a Ceili in the hall with Matt Cunningham.
Saturday night will see the first visit to Keadue of a 20 member Irish Youth Harp Orchestra.
Throughout the weekend patrons can enjoy open air music sessions, a street entertainer all the way from Australia, Harp recitals, the Arigna Fuels sponsored International Harp Competition and a special family fun day on August Monday. The Summer School will be held the week before the Festival from July 30th. to August 3rd. Students can avail of tuition in the following - Harp, Flute, Bodhran, Button Accordion, Tin Whistle, Fiddle, Banjo, Concertina, Traditional Singing, Set Dancing & Sean nos Dancing.
