Home and vehicle owners in Ireland are looking at a lot more than just the price of their insurance premiums these days according to research conducted by the AA.
Two thirds of customers living here want to conduct their business with an insurance company that is underwritten on Irish soil the results of their July online poll of 3,700 suggest. Of lesser importance it seems is a brand that is actually Irish owned.
Of the eight criteria presented to poll participants by the AA, it ranked last in terms of the importance customers place on it.
“The collapse of Setanta is still very recent and a huge number of people were faced with a very unfair situation through no fault of their own. It’s quite possible that as a general knock on effect of this customers are giving more thought to where their insurer is underwritten and regulated,” according to Conor Faughnan, AA Director of Consumer Affairs.
