The My Carrick, your Carrick-on-Shannon project invite you to share your perspective on our special area – your images that best depict the spirit, essence and character of Carrick.

Your mission? We want to see Carrick-on-Shannon through the eyes of our community and visitors, so grab a camera and go Capture My Carrick!

Capture My Carrick promises to be a highly engaging interactive competition and is open to photographers of all ages and experience. My Carrick – Your Carrick on Shannon have worked with their web developers to design a custom built Facebook app to house the competition. The Capture My Carrick app will enable people to do a number of things in the competition such as enter a photograph or vote for their favourites. So whether you are a budding photographer or not, you will still be able to enjoy and engage with the competition.

Gerry Faughnan, President of Carrick on Shannon Chamber of Commerce and Claire Mc Govern, Editor of the Leitrim Observer were delighted to launch the competition earlier this week.

The competition offers a host of wonderful prizes offered by very generous businesses. First prize is an action packed 2 night midweek stay and one evening meal at Cryans Hotel with white water rafting from North West Adventure for two people. The second prize is white water rafting for 5 people from North West Adventure. There are also some wonderful runners up prizes which include having your photos featured in My Carrick’s future promotional material and website.

Selected entries will feature in the Leitrim Observer each week for the duration of the competition. Claire McGovern, Editor said “We are delighted to come on board with this creative competition. We know the talent is out there, all you need is a keen eye. We are looking forward to seeing the different interpretations of the our beautiful county town, its people and its unique spirit.”

The competition will be judged by public vote and the photos with the most votes at the end of the three weeks will win the prizes.

“The My Carrick team are very pleased with the number of businesses who are willing to sponsor our competitions and we thank Cryans Hotel and our newest business North West Adventure for coming on board,” said Gerry “we are also delighted to work with the Leitrim Observer on this competition. By printing some of the entered photos they will open up the spoils of the competition to those who may not be online.”

My Carrick, your Carrick-on-Shannon recently ran a joint national promotion concentrating on Carrick-on-Shannon as a family break destination. It ran in conjunction with the leading listings website A wonderful prize offering of a family stay and play break with Carrick Holiday Homes, Zipit Forest Adventures and Mulvey’s Kids Kingdom was offered and it secured over 900 entries with the winner Aisling O’Meara being announced earlier in the month.

My Carrick – Your Carrick on Shannon is funded by Carrick on Shannon Chamber of Commerce and grant aided by Leitrim Development Company through the Rural Development Programme Ireland 2007-2013 and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe investing in Rural Areas. The project will continue to highlight local tourism business in forthcoming campaigns.

Some terms and conditions apply to the competition and these should be read prior to entering. For example, photographs must be the entrants original work and original copies should be available as proof.
