Andy Moran's Leitrim will take on Sligo in the quarter-finals of next year's Connacht Senior Football Championship with the winners taking on reigning provincial champions Galway after the draw was made on Saturday afternoon on RTE's Saturday Sport.
Leitrim will have home advantage for the clash with the last meeting in the Connacht championship between the north Connacht rivals coming in 2011 when Leitrim scored a famous 1-10 to 0-10 victory over the Yeatsmen in Markieviciz Park.
The reward for the winners is a meeting with either London or 2022 All-Ireland finalists Galway which would mean a Leitrim win would see the semi-final, whoever wins between between the Exiles and the Tribesmen, taking place in Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.
Leitrim met both London and Galway in the 2022 championship, Andy Moran's men securing a 3-12 to 2-11 victory in McGovern Emerald Park Ruislip before Padraic Joyce's team cruised to a 4-20 to 0-9 victory in the subsequent semi-final.
On the other side of the draw, Mayo travel to Gaelic Park in New York to take on the Exiles with the winners facing Roscommon in the semi-final, a game that will be a home game for the Rossies regardless of the result in the Big Apple.
Dates for the games will be announced in the coming weeks but if the same schedule applies as did in 2023, Leitrim's clash with Sligo is likely to take place on the weekend of April 6-7, as all three first round games last year took place on the same weekend with the semi-finals two weeks later.
Leitrim's neighbours also had interesting draws - Longford will face 2023 Tailteann Cup winners Meath in the first round with the winners taking on All-Ireland Champions Dublin in the semi-final. In Ulster, Cavan will face fierce rivals Monaghan in the preliminary round with the winners facing Tyrone in the quarter-finals, while Fermanagh take on Armagh
Any team reaching a provincial final will be guaranteed a place in the Sam Maguire competition, a face that will see one from Clare, Tipperary and Waterford in the battle for Sam. League placings will then decide who advances to the Sam Maguire competition or who will take part in the Tailteann Cup with the top eight teams, outside of Provincial finalists, guaranteed a place in the All-Ireland series.
