Leitrim GAA are in for an unexpected windfall after it was revealed that Limerick businessman JP McManus has made a substantial contribution of €1 million to all GAA county boards in Ireland to further invest in the national sport.
LeitrimLive understands that Mr McManus has made contribution to the county boards across the country through the JP McManus Charitable Foundation.
It will benefit camogie, ladies football, gaelic football and hurling teams with the money set to benefit the grassroots of the game in each county.
Philip Lanigan, writing in Extra.ie revealed the news - and you can read the article at this link: read here - which says: "Billionaire Limerick financier JP McManus is donating €1 million to every GAA county board in Ireland for investment in Gaelic games.
"The money – a donation from the JP McManus Charitable Foundation – is to be evenly divided between GAA, camogie and ladies Gaelic football clubs."
The article also adds that: "The money – a donation from the JP McManus Charitable Foundation – is to be evenly divided between GAA, camogie and ladies Gaelic football clubs."
A donation of this nature is not McManus' first. In of 2018 he donated €100,000 to all 32 counties not long after after Limerick ended their 45-year wait for the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
