Connacht Scor Finals

Bornacoola Question Time and Mohill Figure Dancers won titles at the 2024 Connacht Senior Scór Final in Tooreen Hall last Sunday as Edel Mhic Amhlaidh from Ballinaglera did a fantastic job as Bean an Tí.

Connacht Senior Scór Final took place in Tooreen Hall in Co. Mayo lsst Sunday as Edel Mhic Amhlaidh from Ballinaglera did a fantastic job as Bean an Tí , keeping proceedings running well throughout the day. There was a minute's silence for Sean Duignan who passed away last week. Sean was a key figure at Connacht Scór finals over the years as he recorded many finals which are now part of the Scór archives. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Leitrim were represented by Bornacoola in the Tráth na gCeist. In a hotly contested table quiz, Bornacoola were trailing 4 points behind Elphin in 2nd place going into the final round of the quiz. However, the Leitrim men went on to win the Tráth na gCeist by 4 points seeing them crowned as the first Connacht Champions of the day.

Next up was Mohill's Figure Dancers who danced beautifully on stage earning Leitrim their second Connacht title of the day.

Katie Brennan from Drumkeerin represented Leitrim in the solo singing section, singing a beautiful rendition of the Creggan White Hare accompanied by her brother on guitar but the title went to Mayo. Killian McGuinness from Carrigallen treated the audience to a highly entertaining recitation and had the audience in the palm of his hand, however Roscommon clinched the title in this category.

St. Mary's represented Leitrim in the ballad group category. They sang two beautiful songs in a hotly contested competition but unfortunately Galway emerged as the winners on the day.

Leitrim was represented at a high level in all categories so huge well done to all of the competitors and clubs involved.

Bornacoola and Mohill will go on to represent Leitrim and Connacht in the All Ireland Final. We wish them both the best of luck in their preparations for the finals which will take place on Saturday May 11. n the INEC, Killarney.
