Dolan not in match day squad as Moran names Leitrim team to face Kildare

The Leitrim squad to face Kildare in the Tailteann Cup

Evan Sweeney and Paul Keaney have been drafted in to start for Leitrim in their final Tailteann Cup group 1 clash with Kildare on Saturday June 1, with Pearce Dolan and Kieran Clancy missing out in the top of the table clash in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park (6pm throw-in).

Aughawillan’s Pearce Dolan is not named in the 26 strong squad while Melvin Gaels Clancy is named on the bench after impressing against Longford in the last round. Glencar Manorhamilton’s Evan Sweeney and St Mary’s Kiltoghert’s Paul Keaney come into the starting line-up.

Mohill’s Shane Quinn returns to the match day squad while Allen Gaels Arek Oberwan joins his brother Radek, who starts at centre-back, in the 26 strong squad after impressing with the County U20 team this year. Leitrim Gaels’ Jack Flynn, who came on against Longford, is also not included in the match day squad.

Moran’s selection also features a number of interesting positional switches with Kiltubrid’s Jack Foley named at wing-forward after he impressed there during the Longford game while Tom Prior of Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins is named to start at wing-back.

Fenagh St Caillins again have the strongest representation in the starting 15 with Donal Wrynn, Jack Gilheany, Ryan & Riordan O’Rourke selection to start while St Mary’s Kiltoghert have the largest representation in the 26 man squad with five players. In all, 12 Leitrim clubs are represented in the squad with Nevin O’Donnell and Darragh Rooney playing their club football in Cavan and Dublin respectively.

Kildare have also revealed their team to face Leitrim with manager Glenn Ryan naming a very strong side in the top of the table clash (6pm throw-in). Mark Donnellan, Mick O’Grady, Jack Sargent, Aaron Masterson and Shane Farrell all return after sitting out the Lilywhites comprehensive victory over Waterford.

Shane O’Sullivan, who hit the net twice against the Deise, and Kevin O’Callaghan are named among the Kildare subs.
