The victorious St Mary's team celebrate after winning the U16 title Picture: St Mary's Kiltoghert GAA
St Mary’s Kiltoghert completed a clean sweep of Division 1 U14, U16 & Minor titles when they defeated Glencar Manorhamilton in the Gotham DryWall LGFA U16 15-a-side Cup Final on Wednesday October 23, under lights in Kiltubrid.
These two sides had met in the Minor Final where St Mary’s opened up a big lead against Glencar Manorhamilton and while Lucie Maye opened the scoring with a fine point, it was the north Leitrim side who charged into early lead thanks to a goal from Sophie Devaney and a Nessa Fox point.
However, St Mary’s replied with a goal after 14 minutes and despite missing a lot chances thanks to serious pressure from an excellent Glencar Manor defence, St Mary’s went into the break level at 1-4 apiece at the break.
Glencar Manorhamilton started the second half very strongly and with two well taken points from Nessa Fox in the opening eight minutes of the second half but the lead would have been far greater had it not been for key turnovers from St. Mary's Katie O'Brien, Jane Hanrahan and Ciara Walsh.
St. Mary's came right back into it with some excellent points from Lucie Maye Gazonnet, Zara Cronin and Kerstin McTernan but the major turning point was a well taken goal by Lucie Maye Gazonnet.

Eibhlin Guckian scored one spectacular point after a mazy run that took her from midfield to the sideline, to the endline and back out to the 20 where she struck the ball between the posts.
St. Mary's never looked back and dominated the final exchanges to take the win 2-15 to 1-7 against a very good Glencar Manorhamilton team.
