Leitrim's Allianz NFL Division 3 clash with Laois refixed

Allianz NFL Division 3: Leitrim's postponed clash with O'Moore County has been fixed for Saturday February 8

Leitrim's Allianz NFL Division 3 clash with Laois refixed

Leitrim's postponed Allianz NFL Division 3 clash with Laois has been refixed for Ballinamore's Pairc Sheain Ui Eslin on Saturday February 8, at 2.30 pm.

The news comes after the Men's game against Laois and the Ladies game against Wicklow were both postponed as a consequence of the weather last weekend. Despite frantic efforts to get the game played, Leitrim's opening game in the Allianz NFL Division 3 campaign against Laois was called off with power out in the greater Ballinamore area.

Croke Park confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the game will now take place in Ballinamore on Saturday February 8, with the same throw-in time of 2.30 pm. It also means a clash with the Hurlers who will host Longford on the same day in Drumshanbo's Shane McGettigan Park.

It means that Steven Poacher's team face into five consecutive weekends of League action, staring next Sunday with a trip to Ennis with the Laois refixture sandwiched in between games against Clare and Kildare in Ballinamore on Sunday February 16. That will be followed by a trip to Belfast's Corrigan Park to take on Antrim on Saturday April 22, with Offaly the visitors to Ballinamore on Sunday March 2.

Leitrim Ladies also face fixture congestion with Jonny Garrity's All-Ireland champions facing a run of six games on consecutive weekends without a break after the postponed Wicklow game has been refixed for Sunday February 9, venue yet to be confirmed.

Leitrim Schools' Connacht PPS Semi-Final, fixed for last Friday, also fell victim to the weather and has been refixed for tonight (Wednesday January 29) under lights at the Connacht Centre of Excellence.

One game did take place over the weekend with Leitrim hurlers beating Lancashire to start off their Allianz NHL Division 4 campaign on a positive note.
