Leitrim will return to Tubbercurry’s Kilcoyne Park next Saturday as they battle to save their status in the TG4 lGFA All-Ireland SFC Championship when they take on Donegal in the relegation final at 2pm.
The match had originally been fixed for Lisnaskea but the venue was changed on Monday evening, a fact that may give Leitrim a significant advantage for the crunch relegation final given they had played Mayo in Tubbercurry last Saturday with Donegal facing much longer journey to the Sligo venue.
Leitrim lost out to Mayo on a 2-14 to 0-13 scoreline last Saturday while Donegal, Ulster champions in 2023 and finalists each year since 2017, were beaten by Armagh 0-15 to 0-5 in the other relegation semi-final.
Leitrim played the Ulster side in a challenge game in Kinlough some time ago, the Green & Gold leading at the break before Donegal pulled away for a victory. Donegal finished fourth in the Division 2 League earlier this year but put up strong displays against the teams ahead of them.
