Sweeney Oil LGFA IFC Final & Smith Monumentals IFC Relegation Final on Saturday fall victim to the weather

Sweeney Oil LGFA Intermediate Final postponed due to Storm Amy

Storm Amy has claimed a victim on the Leitrim sporting calendar with the news that Leitrim LGFA have called off the Sweeney Oil LGFA Intermediate Championship Final between Dromahair and Drumkeerin that was due to be played on Saturday afternoon in Kiltubrid.

Gortletteragh and Ballinaglera's meeting in the Smith Monumentals IFC Relegation Semi-Final, also fixed for Saturday in Leitrim Gaels Community Field, has been called off but the Observer understands that the weekend's Connacht Gold Leitrim SFC Semi-Finals will proceed as planned.

Leitrim GAA have confirmed the postponement of the Intermediate Relegation clash and that all other games will proceed as planned in a statement: "Tomorrow’s Smith Monumentals Relegation Semi-Final between Ballinaglera and Gortletteragh is postponed. All other fixtures, including the Connacht Gold Senior Semi-Final, are proceeding as scheduled at this time. Please check http://LeitrimGAA.ie for the latest updates in case of any further changes."

The eagerly anticipated Ladies IFC Final derby clash joins a list of Connacht FAI Cup fixtures that were due to be played over the weekend and two semi-finals on Friday evening in the Barna Recycling U13 Division 1 Championship that also fell victim to the weather.

It is believed that the initial proposal is for the Ladies Intermediate Final to be played next Friday, October 10, making for a hectic weekend of Sweeney Oil sponsored Leitrim LGFA Championship action with the Senior Final fixed for Saturday October 11, in Heartland Credit Union Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada at 2.30 with the Junior Final between Annaduff and Keeldra Gaels fixed for the same day in Pairc Naomh Mhuire.

Further details of any postponements to the sporting calendar will be posted as soon as they are available.
