Leitrim Mens and Ladies' football teams will open their 2026 League campaigns on the road although the Ladies face a much shorter trip to neighbours Longford but the men have a daunting journey to Wicklow's Echelon Park in Aughrim.
With the GAA releasing their Master Fixture Plan for 2026 on Wednesday, Steven Poacher's mens team will open their campaign with a trip to Wicklow on Sunday January 25, followed by their first home game against Waterford a week later in Heartland Credit Union Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada on Sunday February 1.
The men's team have three home games against Waterford on February 1, followed by the visits of Antrim on Sunday February 22, and a derby clash with Longford on Sunday March 15.
Poacher's men face away trips to Wicklow on January 25, London on Sunday February 15, Tipperary on Sunday March 1 and finishing their campaign with trek to Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday March 22.
Jonny Garrity's side open their bid to finally escape Division 4 of the Lidl LGFA National League with a trip to Longford on Sunday January 18, followed by their first home game against Offaly on Sunday January 25, with further home games on Sunday February 1, against Sligo; on Sunday February 22, against Wicklow and against Carlow on Sunday March 8, in the final game of the group stages.
The Ladies will be on the road to take on Longford, Kilkenny on Sunday February 15, and Derry on Sunday March 1, with the League Semi-Finals on Sunday March 29, with the final on Sunday April 12.
The schedule of fixtures will mean a lot of clashes for the Mens and Ladies team with both sides down for home games on January 25, February 1, February 22, as well as away games on February 15, and March 1.
Leitrim hurlers face a tough schedule of five games over six weekends, starting with a home game on Saturday January 24, against neighbours Longford followed a week later by a home game with another neighbour in Sligo. Mike Wall's side then face two away games on February 8, and 21, against Warwickshire in Birmingham and Monaghan in Inniskeen before finishing with two more home games against Cavan on February 28, and Lancashire on March 7, giving the hurlers four home games.
