With new deadlines for the Christmas edition of the Observer, a number of clubs unfortunately missed out on having their notes printed in this week’s sports pages. The following are the notes that were received after last Friday’s deadline.
Please note that all items, including club notes, for the sports pages must be submitted no later than 12 noon next Monday December 29

MOHILL
Down Memory Lane: This week's random trip down Memory Lane takes us back to 1963 to a Junior Championship clash between Mohill and Fenagh which Mohill won on a 1-6 to 1-3 scoreline following a good lively encounter played in Carrick. Mohill's best players on the day were Jacko McCrann, George Booth, Michael McGuinness, Christie McCaffrey, Anthony Canning, Brian Rowley, Sylvester Kivlehan. Marksman were Johnny Rowley 1-0, Christy McCaffrey 0-2, Sylvester Kivlehan 0-2, Anthony Canning 0-1, Peter Gordon 0-1. The lineout was as follows: Sean Bannon, Paddy Haughney, Jacko McCrann, John Joe Cassells, George Booth, Christy McCaffrey, Michael McGuinness, Brian Rowley, Anthony Canning, Johnny Rowley, Vincie Crossan, Frank Doris, Peter Gordon, Brendan Gallagher, Sylvester Kivlehan. Subs. used were Michael Rowley, Padraig Guckian. Once again, we must point out that this was our first team as we regraded to Junior for1963, and indeed, remained in this grade in 1969 after we won Junior in 1968.
Condolences: Our condolences go to Gerry and Fionnuala Duignan on the passing of Fionnuala's mother Margaret McKiernan (nee Connolly) Ballinamore. Gerry played at all levels for Mohill and Leitrim during the 70s and 80s, while in recent times he had been a great supporter of Club and County. At County level he represented Leitrim at U21 level and was sub goalie with the Seniors. Margaret’s son, Patrick Beezer, was a renowned Ballinamore and Leitrim player during the same era while her grandson is now a star player with the Sean O’Heslins Club. To all Margaret’s family and friends we extend our deepest sympathy.
Our condolences also go to the family and friends of the late Millie McNally (née McGuinness) Drumhanny, who passed away last week. Millie was married to the late Jack McNally, former Leitrim footballer and County Board Officer. Her nephews John and Paul McGuinness, Drumhanny, starred at all levels for Mohill, while in more recent times have been mentors at Underage level with Paul being a joint Junior Manager this year, as well as Selector with our Senior team. Her niece Annells, represented the Club successfully in Scor some years back, while more recently, was also a very successful fundraiser in our local Strictly Come Dancing event. Millie of course taught for many years in the old Mohill Boys National School, St. Michael’s.
Convention: This year’s annual County Board Convention took place on Wednesday night of last week in the Bush hotel Carrick. Our own Alan Armstrong retained his position as Assistant Secretary unopposed. Congrats also to Adrian McCaffrey who was elected as Vice Chairperson. Adrian, a businessman here in town, has been a generous sponsor of Mohill GAA Club in recent years, and is also a former Underage mentor with the xlub.
Santa’s visit: We would like to thank all the organisers who made Santa’s visit to Mohill GAA at Lough Rynn Castle Hotel such a success. Thanks to all who supported it and turned up in such large numbers on the day. Thanks also to Lough Rynn Castle for their hospitality on the day, and to Therese Foy photographer and Mrs. Claus herself, Claire Quinn who acted as MC.
Schools’ Football: Our combined Leitrim schools team lost out to St. Gerald’s Castlebar, last week on a 3-9 to 1-13 scoreline. Once again, Mohill's sole rep was Frankie McManus at centerfield who left his mark with a massive two pointer early in the second half.

Congrats to Gerry Conway, Cloone who was the lucky winner of our amazing jackpot of €6,880. Thanks for entering Gerry and enjoy your winnings.
