Ballinamore pipped in All-Ireland SemiFinal

Ballinamore Community School saw their dream of an All-Ireland Final disappear in the last two minutes of a pulsating semi-final last Saturday.

Ballinamore Community School saw their dream of an All-Ireland Final disappear in the last two minutes of a pulsating semi-final last Saturday.

Colaiste Ghobnatan of Ballyvourney prevailed 1-7 to 0-8 in Gort thanks to two points in the last two minutes of normal time, the Ballinamore men seeing their dream of appearing in Croke Park disappearing after an epic encounter.

Manager Kevin Nolan was naturally disappointed with the result but was proud of the effort his team had put in - “You can’t fault the lads, they worked extremely hard. We had opportunities, we weren’t far off.There is great spirit in that team.”

Ballyvourney manager and former Kerry manager Mickey Ned O’Sullivan was full of praise forBallinamore - “I can understand how the Ballinamore lads feel because they are a fine team, they have some great footballers, they have great heart and they probably didn’t play as well as they could in the first half.”
