No magic answer to finding winning formula

Leitrim may be trying to adopt a new Ulster style game-plan but manager Shane Ward is realistic enough to know that there are no magic answers to the county’s struggles in the Allianz League Division 4.

Leitrim may be trying to adopt a new Ulster style game-plan but manager Shane Ward is realistic enough to know that there are no magic answers to the county’s struggles in the Allianz League Division 4.

Many expected Leitrim to adopt a defensive strategy but the League campaign saw a much improved attacking output.

Reviewing the campaign, Shane agreed that Leitrim finished the campaign on a strong note but stressed the project will take time.

“We finished reasonably strongly but again that takes times, there is absolutely no magic answer to the question.

“We put absolutely no pressure on results in the National League, the guys were very much looking towards performance all the time.

They finished strongly and whereas if we had put down an ultimatum to win certain games and not win certain games, that’s a very tricky place for young players to be in.

“All they want to be done is to be given a chance to perform and then reflect on the performance and move on from there.”
