Leitrim face into attempting to stop another hoodoo next Friday evening, April 29, when they take on Mayo in Aughamore in the first round of the Connacht Junior Championship.

Leitrim traditionally have done well in this competition if there is a reasonable gap between the games but Mayo have proved a particular bug-bear over the years.

If Leitrim do score a rare win on Mayo soil, they would then face Roscommon in a semi-final two weeks later, May 13, just over a week before the Connacht Senior Championship meeting with Sligo.

Leitrim should have a lot of players who are eligible to compete in the Junior competition, given the incredible turn-over of players from last year.

Among those eligible to play are both keepers who have seen action during the Allianz League, Cathal McCrann and Philip Farrelly, while defenders Ronan Gallagher, Paddy Maguire and Barry McWeeney could be joined by the Lowe brothers, Robert and Daniel, who saw action during the Allianz League.
