Next Saturday’s Leitrim Senior Hurling Final will be officiated by one of the county’s top hurling referee John Sexton of Cork who recently took charge of the Cork Final.

Originally from Bruree in Limerick but now a Ballyhea man, John has officiated at an impressive array of high-profile games, including the Limerick County Final in 2005, the Cork County Senior Hurling Final in 2008, the Allianz Hurling League Final in 2009, the All-Ireland Minor Final in 2004.

Carrick will be looking to regain the crown they lost for the first time in 14 years last year and the memory of their semi-final defeat against Manorhamilton, where they lost to a dramatic injury time goal, is sure to be a motivation while the north Leitrim men are looking for their first title in 52 years.

Recent matches between the two teams have been hard fought - expect next Saturday to be no different.
