Newly crowned Leitrim Senior Champions Melvin Gaels could already have suffered a body blow in their efforts to retain the Fenagh Cup next year with the unconfirmed reports circulating that County star Emlyn Mulligan is seeking a transfer to join a club in Dublin.
Mulligan, a crucial figure for the Kinlough based club in recent years, is believed to have Melvin Gaels officials for transfer forms and is in the process of formalising his switch to a prominent Dublin club, believed to be St. Brigid’s in Blanchardstown which was formerly the club of Declan Darcy.
The matter was discussed at a normal Melvin Gaels Club meeting on Tuesday evening after Mulligan’s request for transfer forms was received.
It is believed that the Longford-based Garda will continue to line out with Leitrim in 2013 but his absence for Melvin Gaels would be a serious blow as they bid to defend their title.
