The timing of the Connacht Minor Championship just days after the end of the Leaving Certificate must be looked at accoding to Leitrim manager Mark Heslin.
Speaking after the loss to Galway, Mark urged the Connacht Council to have a rethink on the timing of the Connacht Minor Championship - ““We had the Leaving Certificate and I did not want to harp on about this but it gets in to fellows heads.
“I think it’s a ridiculous situation to have where these lads had to spend three to three-and-a-half weeks in exam halls pouring over everything they have learned for the last three years and then to be expected to come out here to play a game two days after their last exam. It is something we have to look at with the Connacht Council.
“It is nothing to do with today result and it did not affect us all. We are not going to cry about it – the Roscommon lads had the same problem as we had. It’s massive on these lads at a time when they are looking for a result and you have to remember this is their lifeline, and it’s a lot of pressure for young lad and something needs to be done about that.”
