Leitrim's reward for their third ever victory in the All-Ireland Senior Championship Qualifiers is a meeting with All-Ireland contenders Monaghan next weekend after the draw for round 3 of the Qualifiers was made this morning (Monday) live on RTE Radio 1.
Following last Saturday's stunning victory over Louth, Leitrim's reward is a meeting with Malachy O'Rourke's Division One team, the only team to defeat All-Ireland champions Dublin in 2018, and one of the favourites to reach the Super 8s.
It will be the first ever Championship meeting between the counties with the only meetings between the counties coming in the National League down through the years.
Monaghan defeated Tyrone in the first round of the championship before surprisingly falling to Fermanagh in the Ulster Semi-Final. However, they have got themselves back on track with a demolition of Waterford last Saturday.
Leitrim, however, are full of confidence with Damian Moran, Emlyn Mulligan and captain Donal Wrynn expressing plenty of self-belief ahead of Monday's draw (see here).
The draw generally kept the big guns apart which means the likelihood of Tyrone, Mayo and Monaghan reaching the Super 8s has been greatly increased as, if they win, they cannot meet in the last round of the Qualifiers.
The full draw is as follows:
Kildare v Mayo
Armagh v Clare
Leitrim v Monaghan
Cavan v Tyrone
