Last Sunday, January 11 was a day to remember in Mohill as thousands attended the FBD Connacht League game between Leitrim and Galway and in particular the official opening and rededication of the Philly McGuinness Memorial Park.
Before a bumper crowd Philly was remembered as GAA President Elect Aogan O Fearghaill unveiled the plaque officially rededicating the park in memory of Philly who passed away in April 2010.
Tributes were paid by Aogan O Fearghaill; Leitrim captain for the day and close friend of Philly, Danny Beck; Connacht GAA Council Secretary John Prenty; Philly’s brother John and Mohill Club Chairman Padraig McLoughlin.
