Brendan starts for first time

Ten years after his previous championship appearance for Leitrim as a sub in New York, Melvin Gaels Brendan Brennan starts his first Championship game for the county next Sunday against London.

Ten years after his previous championship appearance for Leitrim as a sub in New York, Melvin Gaels Brendan Brennan starts his first Championship game for the county next Sunday against London.

Brennan, who rejoined the County panel last November after impressing in Melvin Gaels run to the County Senior crown, featured as a sub in the extra-time victory over New York in 2003 but makes his first start on Sunday against the Exiles in the Connacht Championship Semi-Final.

It will be a special day for the Brennan family as both Brendan and his brother Paul will start the game for Leitrim, the first brothers to pair for the county since Michael and Philly McGuinness who featured for Leitrim against Roscommon in 2009.
