Alan hopes Leitrim make fitness tell

Alan Wynne is hoping that the superior fitness of the Green & Gold will tell its tale next Sunday, stressing that Leitrim will not underestimate the Exiles.

“London obviously deserved to win the game,” Alan said of London’s Semi-Final win over Sligo, “At the end of the day, they got the result. Nobody underestimates London and we all know that whatever else happens, come 3.30 on June 23, it is going to be hell for leather.

“It is probably going to be a quite physical game. I think if we can get the scores at the right time, if we can get a good start, it will be half the battle and I think fitness will tell, we’re in very good shape.”

London come with a reputation as a big physical team but Alan believes that the example of Dublin sees a change in the game – “Gaelic Football is kind of reverting back to quick pacy players, the Dublin team are all young lads, which our team is, fast. I mightn’t be the quickest myself but there are a few lads there very quick.

“It is good to be powerful to get through but the game now is so much up and down the pitch, you need lads to do that and we’re well equipped to do that and we have a few lads able to do that.”
