The LGFA are now accepting applications for the 2013 Gaelic4Girls programmes which is a 12 week programme that incorporates coaching sessions with the aim of increasing individual skills with fun, non-competitive blitzes.
The programme is open to girls between the ages of 9 and 13 that are not currently registered with a club. The Gaelic4Girls programme aims to provide girls with the opportunity to become involved with sport without the competitive focus. The programme also provides clubs, throughout the country, with the opportunity to attract new girls into their existing teams.
The programme costs only €8 per participant but in return the players will receive 12 weeks of training along with a programme t-shirt. There is also the opportunity for all teams to take part in a provincial blitz day where they will enjoy a fun day of non-competitive football with Gaelic4Girls teams from across their own province.
This programme is ideal for any struggling clubs, any club that wants to increase membership or any newly established clubs. Clubs that are interested in taking part must be able to provide one coach per 10 participants and a co-ordinator, those coaches and co-ordinators must be available to attend a provincial training day. They must also participate in a Ready, Steady, Coach programme aimed at training volunteers.
Details on how to apply to host a Gaelic4Girls programme are available from Provincial Development Officer Aisling Hubbard at email@example.com or on 087 7681288.
