Leitrim will face Ulster Champions Down in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate Championship Semi-Final next Saturday after the Green & Gold defeated Limerick in the Quarter-Final in Banagher on Saturday.

The Ladies defeated Limerick 3-7 to 1-8 with goals from Aine Heslin and Aine Tighe to set up a meeting with the Ulster side next Saturday, August 30, with the venue yet to be fixed.

Letirim led by just two points at the halftime break, 1-5 to 1-3, but Tighe’s goal early in the second half coupled with a fantastic save from Michelle Guckian in the Leitrim goal saw the Green & Gold across the line against a much tougher than expected Limerick challenge.

Waterford’s surprise loss to Fermanagh also opens up the competition with Roscommon, who defeated Longford last week in the Quarter-Finals, facing the Ulster side on September 6.

Down had just a point to spare over Sligo in their Quarter-Final but the Division 2 side will start the game as favourites.

The Leitrim game will be the curtain raiser to the Dublin and Galway All-Ireland Semi-Final and will be televised by TG4 next Saturday.
