Tony McGowan Road Race cheques presented to charities and organisations

Pictured are The Tony McGowan Run Committee 2023 who recently presented the proceeds of the event held in February, to their chosen charities and associated organisations.

One of the charities to benefit from the day is the Gavin Glynn Foundation. Local girl Rachel McGovern and her mum Geraldine accepted a cheque on behalf of the foundation. Rachel continues to receive great support from the foundation as her treatment  continues successfully.

The other charity that received a donation is the Creeslough Community Fund. Drumshanbo resident Hughie Gallagher accepted the cheque on behalf of the fund. Hughie’s uncle sadly passed away in the tragedy last October.

Local organisations to benefit from the proceeds are Allen Gaels GAA Club and Drumshanbo AC who support and partner the event each year.

Allen Gaels plan to use the donation to organise an event for their juvenile members later this year.
Drumshanbo AC are in the final phase of developing outdoor training facilities for their members so the donation received will go towards this venture.

Without the continued support of the local community, sponsors, local businesses, the gardaí, support services, various media outlets, The Mayflower Committee and the Drumshanbo Sports Hub Co-ordinator, this event could not have successfully gone ahead this year.

The committee wish to thank everyone involved again and hope that many will benefit from all their efforts.
Missing committee members: Éilis McGowan, John Morgan and John McGarry.
