Breffni Players take on ‘Witness for the Prosecution’ in The Dock

The Dock is delighted to host another block buster performance from the Breffni Players – this time presenting the Agatha Christie classic ‘Witness for the Prosecution.’
Directed by legendary Breffni Players long time member and stalwart, Angus Dunne, the show will run for four nights at the Carrick-on-Shannon venue from April 18-21.

‘Witness for the Prosecution’ follows the trial of Leonard Vole, accused of murdering a widow in order to inherit her fortune after being named her principal heir. The stakes are high and so is the tension as revelations unfold and a surprising witness' testimony comes to light.
According to enthusiastic reviews of the original performance in 1953, the author had two ends in view, and she attained them both. The audience is brought “into the Old Bailey during an exciting trial for murder, then into chambers where the human reactions of the lawyers engaged in the case may be studied; and when the trial is over and there seems no more to be said, she swiftly ravels again the skein which the law has confidently unravelled and leaves herself with a denouement which is at once surprising and credible.”

“Cold-blooded” and a “clear-cut image of hatred releasing itself suddenly from inhibitions which have become intolerable” Mrs Christie gets the audience in her pocket. But as in any Agatha Christie yarn, a twist comes just when you thought otherwise!
Join the jury in the impossibly difficult task of deciding the fate of the accused.
Make sure to book your seat for ‘Witness for the Prosecution’ which runs from April 18-21 at The Dock in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Admission €14 and €16 and tickets can be booked online at www.thedock.ie  or on (071) 96 50 828.
This amateur production of "Witness for the Prosecution" is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. ww.concordtheatricals.co.uk
