Motorcyclist dies in Longford collision with tractor

Another motorcyclist also killed after a crash in Leitrim on Friday

BREAKING: One person dead and one 'seriously injured' after collision outside Dundalk

Gardaí are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a tractor and a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 1:30pm on Saturday, 13th May 2023 in County Longford between Aughnacliffe and Ennybegs at Esker South, Ballinalee.

The motorcyclist (male, 40s) was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries to persons was reported.

The road at Esker South, Ballinalee is currently closed with local diversions in place. Forensic Collision Investigators have conducted an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Esker South area of Ballinalee between 1pm and 1:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

This is the second motorcyclist to die in the last two days.

Leitrim accident on Friday

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in County Leitrim on Friday, 12th May, 2023.
 
Shortly after 8:40am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a fatal single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the R208 Drumcong to Ballinamore Road at Aghacashlaun. 

The motorcyclist, a man in his late 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A technical examination of the scene was conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road at the crash site has since fully reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who travelled on the R208 in the Drumcong area between the hours of 8:00pm on Thursday 11th May and 8:40am on Friday 12th May, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
