Students with Kate Cummings from The Irish Heart Foundation

CPR4Schools Award
This year our 1st years all got trained in CPR and the other year groups completed a refresher CPR course. Several staff also upskilled in CPR. In recognition of the efforts made throughout the year to upskill both students and staff in CPR training we were delighted to hear that we won a CPR4Schools Award from The Irish Heart Foundation. Representative Kate Cummings from The Irish Heart Foundation visited the school on Friday, 12th May to make a presentation. Knowing how to perform CPR is a valuable life saving skills to acquire. Thanks to Ms Stenson, Mr Mullen, Mr Nolan and Ms Cooney for organising and facilitating the training.

Leaving Certificate Graduation
Congratulations to our Leaving Certificate class of 2023, who celebrated their graduation on Thursday 18th May. It was a wonderful ceremony with lots of happy memories, prayers, kind words and well wishes. Best of luck to the students with the final preparations for the upcoming exams. Thank you to Fr Sean, Mr Kane and Mr Duignan for all the preparations for the ceremony. Numerous awards were given out on the night.

TY Graduation
Congratulations to the TY class of 2023, who celebrated their achievements in a busy but fruitful year at their graduation and awards ceremony on Tuesday 23rd May. A host of certificates, awards and prizes were given out on the night. Thanks to Mary Conefrey of Leitrim County Library and historian, Fiona Slevin who attended on the night to present awards to our prize-winners in the Young Historian Competition.
Congratulations to Riain McManus, who won the overall prize of Young Historian for County Leitrim. Other prize winners on the night. Young Historian Category Winners – Lucy Murphy, Enda Reynolds, Teodora Usatii, Kealan Gannon. Student Enterprise Special Merit Award – Dearbhla Gunn, Katie Guckian, Lily Mahon, Lucy Murphy. Best TY Interview - Roise Redican. Highest TY Credits - Riain McManus. Best TY E Portfolio – Kealan Gannon. Student of the year (student vote) Calem Quinn. Student of the year (teacher vote) Ericia Dolan.

Geography Field Trip
Mr Mullen’s 5th year Geography class carried out a geographical investigation (GI) on the Yellow River, Aughnasheelin on Tuesday 23rd May. The class went to two sites on the Yellow River to investigate processes of erosion.
They conducted their GI at Stralongford Bridge and below Pol an Eas waterfall. They had a beautiful day for the trip and got all their tasks completed. They will be writing up a report on the GI back in the classroom and this accounts for 20% of their final mark for Leaving Certificate.
