Congratulations to Fr Pat Lennon, on the celebration of his Golden Jubilee in St. Mary’s Church, Legga, Co. Longford last Sunday, June 11.

Fr Pat was appointed to Kiltoghert Parish following his ordination in 1973, where he spent five years before being sent to Zambia for seven years.

On return from Zambia, Fr Pat served in both Athlone and Ballinahowen until 1998, when he was to return to Africa (Zimbabwe) for a further seven years working as a missionary priest.

The homilist at his Jubilee Mass was Fr Brendan O’Sullivan who served in our parish also, before being appointed as Parish Priest of Leamonaghan Parish in Ballinahowan, in 2019.

Both priests were very popular while serving the parishioners of the Leitrim, Carrick and Jamestown areas.

Following a concelebrated Mass, celebrations continued in the ‘Latin School’ Community Centre, in the townland of Moyne, Co. Longford.

The famous ‘Latin School’ became known as a prep school for the priesthood and produced 563 priests and five Bishops in one hundred years, most of them from Leitrim, Longford and Cavan. We wish Fr Pat an abundance of blessings, good health and happiness in the years ahead
