North Leitrim and Donegal dancers to compete on a world stage

The Global Dance Open Competition 2023 will take place in Avila, Spain commencing on July 19 and running until July 22.

This year, Michelle Bell’s School of Dance will step proudly onto that stage being represented by eight young dancers: Ogie Barrett, Kayley Gallagher, Roisin Hamrogue, Adeline McGinty, Manon McGinty, Meadhbh McGinty, Darcy McGloin and Ellie Reynolds.

These dancers from Michelle Bell’s School of Dance will, along with other Irish dancers, represent the Republic of Ireland in bringing the very best of Irish contemporary dance expertise to compete at world level in this global dance competition.

The Global Dance Open Competition sees 2,000 children and young people from 36 countries compete in the disciplines of acrobatic dance, ballet, jazz and lyrical dance forms.

True dedication, determination and talent shines through these young dancers who are currently in the final stages of preparation for their Global Dance Open Competition debut.

Following a disciplined training schedule over many months, the dancers have been heavily involved in preparation for the event.

A distinct passion for their art shines through their performances, displaying a living, vibrant art form that is a joy to watch. All are consummate performers displaying a mastery of the various dance disciplines in their intricate, exacting and complex routines.

The dancers’ expertise in the acrobatic section of the competition sees them perform routines that are exceptionally demanding, requiring great ability in acrobatic technique and performance.

These young dancers’ discipline for dance displays itself in their superb technique in addition to a wonderful ability with expression – the telling of the story through the dance routine.

All offer elegance and precision in technique making them compelling to watch: delicate in detail, poised and arresting. Above all, it is their love of dance that draws the audience in; enticing them to watch dancers completely at one with their performance.

The Michelle Bell School of Dance has recently celebrated its twelfth anniversary and continues to offer aspiring dancers the very best of tuition and dance expertise in the North West.
