An event to recognise the hard work put in by volunteers and the local authority in securing the title of Ireland's Best Kept Town for Carrick-on-Shannon took place on Tuesday evening, July 18, in the Council Chamber, Aras an Chontae. Observer photographer Willie Donnellan was there to capture images of the Tidy Towns members along with Council workers and elected members as well as members of Leitrim Chamber of Commerce at the event. Ireland’s Best Kept Town is an all-island competition in which some of the best towns in the SuperValu Tidy Towns Competition go head to head against their counterparts in Northern Ireland, with Carrick-on-Shannon named this year’s overall winner.
