Shalom-SCCRR fundraiser event to support Africa takes place in Leitrim

In a united endeavour to counter the stark violence against women and children in Africa's conflict zones, the Shalom Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation (SCCRR) is thrilled to announce a pivotal fundraiser event.

The evening at Cox's Steakhouse in Dromod, Co Leitrim, promises to be a transformative affair for women's empowerment and educational advancement in Africa.

"It's a battle against the odds, but it's a battle worth fighting," comments Rev Dr Padraig Devine, who will host the event.

"The proceeds from this gathering are not just funds; they're the currency of change. They will make a tangible difference in communities that are scarred by inter-ethnic conflict, ideological extremism, and heart-wrenching violence," he added.

Elevating voices, changing lives

Launched in 2022, the Shalom Empowerment Center (SEC) stands as a beacon of hope in informal urban settlements. A sprawling slum area hosting ten distinctive slum zones benefits directly from the centre.

Shalom-SCCRR, with its impressive track record, has spearheaded over 600 school and educational projects since its inception in 2009, changing the lives of 191,496 pupils and students. Currently, 29 projects are under active implementation.

"The mission is to transform, empower, and build a better future," Dr Devine emphasises.

"Through this fundraiser, we're not just raising money; we're raising aspirations. We're supporting 1,170 women, selected for their potential to be changemakers, in their 18-month transformative training cycle."

Why this matters

"Time is of the essence, and women in these marginalised terrains can't afford to wait. We need your support to train these women and to fund educational facilities that can provide a launchpad for countless dreams", Dr. Devine added.

The night promises more than entertainment; it offers the opportunity for collective impact. As autumn leaves begin to fall, let's sow the seeds for a spring of hope in Africa's most marginalised communities.
