The Glens Centre reopens for exciting Autumn season

The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton.

After the August break, The Glens is delighted to present a packed programme starting on September 01 with a wonderful piece on Oscar Wilde – Work is the Curse of the Drinking Classes - which got a 5-star review in the Carnegie Arts Centre.

This is followed by the classy Carducci Quartet on Wednesday, September 6, in a programme that includes Beethoven and Shostakovich.

Later in the month, it will present the infamous Midnight Court by Brian Merriman, which takes a remarkably prescient look at sexual mores in old Ireland, a musical presentation of The Diary of Anne Frank with Indian master musician Girish Paul, and one of the country’s most sought after performers – Leitrim’s own Seamus O’Rourke - with his new show The Ballad of Mossy Flood, September 27.

Bandit Films is run by one of Ireland’s leading film/documentary makers, Johnny Gogan, of Dromahair. It presents the annual Adaptation Film Festival from September 22-24 with an array of indoor and outdoor screenings, masterclasses, discussions and workshops by some of Ireland’s leading practitioners, including actor Gary Lydon of Banshees of Inisherin fame.

Director of The Glens, Brendan Murray, is looking forward to welcoming audiences old and new to an arts venue that is making a mark nationally as it has been invited by RTE Radio 1 to host its flagship arts show, Arena, on Culture Night, September.

This is a free event with limited tickets available to the public.

October and November see concerts by Andy Irvine and Frankie Gavin, whilst the legendary Red Hurley will play a special Christmas concert in early December.

All details of its upcoming programme can be found at www.theglenscentre.com or through its Box office at 071 9855833 (Tue-Fri 10-5pm).
