Culture Night in Bundoran will include an historical walk around the town.
As part of the Culture Night 2023 free night-time entertainment, Bundoran is hosting two events to celebrate culture, creativity and arts.
The community will present "Footsteps of the Past, Food of the Future", - a historical walking tour will be given by Tir Hugh Tours highlighting the various cultural and historical elements of the town, including tourism, music, military and railway.
This tour will conclude at Bundoran Community Centre, where the food element of the day will be held, which will be a gathering of the various cultures in Bundoran with the sharing of food and traditions for the evening.
Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth said, "It's great for Bundoran to be able to join in with Culture Night this year as we explore the town on the historical walk and then celebrate all the new cultures which have become part of the town over the past few years. We look forward to seeing lots of people taking part in the night."
Manager of Bundoran Community Centre Danielle Carty added, "The community of Bundoran has become bigger and wider in the past decade with so many new cultures to explore and to celebrate.
"We invite those communities to come to our event to display their cultures, and we will demonstrate ours with some Irish culinary fare. Meitheal will be providing traditional Irish music entertainment on the night.
"We had a great turnout last year with Irish, Brazilian, Ukrainian, Slovakia, South American, and hopefully we'll see the same again this year. It's a great night for socialising, for meeting others in the community, old friends and new. And over food, what more could you ask for?"
The guided historical walk will leave from the Tourist Office, The Bridge, Bundoran at 6pm on Friday, September 22, and that will be followed by the Community Centre event from 7pm.
In 2022, Culture Night events engaged over 742,000 people across Ireland. This year, the event seeks to actively promote the belief that Ireland's rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people's lives today and every day.
