The highly successful and very popular fundraiser in aid of Leitrim GAA & LGFA is now in it's fourth year and has seen Leitrim people from 72 counties all over the world along with every corner of Ireland participate in the innovative event.
Backed by Leitrim County Council, the 50 Miles in January has become a rallying call for the county, the event's facebook page and social media output connecting the county's diaspora with home and also supporting two Leitrim organisations in their efforts to bring sporting glory to the county.
All those who sign up as fundraisers will receive a lovely gold beanie hat in addition to a Leitrim GAA themed fundraising page. As before Leitrim County Council are the major sponsors of the Challenge and are working closely with the organisers to highlight county Leitrim during the campaign as a great place to live in, work in, relocate to, invest in and of course to visit and enjoy.
MC John Lynch guided the event with contributions from Leitrim GAA's Declan Bohan and Leitrim LGFA's Kathy Butler along with interviews with Leitrim County Council's Cathaoirleach Cllr Justin Warnock and Justin Fannon (LCC Director of Economic Development). Challenge ambassador Delys Morgan (brand manager Avant Money) also spoke on the evening while videos of Leitrim GAA stars Ryan O'Rourke and Ailbhe Clancy were also played on the evening for the audience.
Organisers have also encourage local businesses to get involved, encouraging health & wellbeing through corporate participation. If any company would like to be involved please email 50miles@leitrimgaa.ie.
