Significant traffic disruption in Carrick-on-Shannon as work begins on new bridge lights

Works began today (Monday) installing new lighting on the underside of the arches on Carrick-on-Shannon bridge.

The works are taking place this week between Monday and Friday, March 19th - 23rd, from 10am to 3pm daily.

The contractor will be using a mobile underbridge hoist vehicle, one lane of the bridge will be closed during these hours and a stop / go traffic management plan will be in place for traffic crossing the bridge.

There are significant traffic backups on all approach roads.
