The Leitrim Sports Partnership has secured a funding package of €310,330 for 2024, courtesy of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
This funding injection forms part of a record-breaking investment totaling almost €30 million in core funding support to sporting organisations nationwide, as announced by Minister Catherine Martin's department.
The substantial funding allocation reaffirms the government's unwavering commitment to bolstering grassroots sports initiatives and promoting active living within communities across Ireland.
Of the total amount received by the Leitrim Local Sports Partnership, €302,300 will be allocated towards core and program funding, while an additional €7,500 has been specifically designated to support projects aimed at enhancing women's participation in sports.
Adam Ó Ceallaigh, the Green Party candidate for the Ballinamore Local Electoral Area, echoed these sentiments, stating, "The announcement of this investment is a testament to the government's commitment to promoting sports participation and development at all levels. I would like to note my particular appreciation for the specific funding to support women in sport."
