Mc Hughs Bar, in Carrick-on-Shannon have clinched a prestigious national award in the Bar of the Year awards. See full details below.

Mc Hughs Bar, Carrick-on-Shannon were nominated by judges as finalists in 5 categories at this years Bar of the Year awards. On the night they came away as overall winners, winning the national people’s choice Award. The winners were announced on the Monday 19th of August 2024 at a gala awards ceremony in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road. It was a sell out event this year with hundreds in attendance.
The organisers of the awards, announcing the winner, said@ “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the winners. Your passion and hard work have made the bar community richer and more vibrant, and we are proud to honor your accomplishments”.
And the staff from McHughs Bar were thrilled with their award.
"We were absolutely honoured to have been nominated! Then to go on and be awarded an national award on the night with the calibre of pubs and people in that room was incredible...the stuff dreams are made of!" a staff member said.
