523 students in Leitrim received their Leaving Cert results this morning, August 23.

Results day brings a whirlwind of emotions for students as they reach the end of six years in secondary school, standing on the brink of either entering the workforce or pursuing further studies.

It is a pivotal moment for students across the country, and many schools in Leitrim are beaming with pride this morning.

“We have fantastic results again, our students perform above the national average. We’re very pleased they’re indicative of the hard work of students, their families and the fantastic staff we have at St Clare's,” said Maeve Kelly, Principal of St Clare’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton.

“We have a number of students that have achieved the top points this year, and that’s something we see year on year. It’s a remarkable achievement for any student.

“At the same time, we have students that worked extremely hard and have achieved above and beyond their potential in other ways and that have completed a leaving certificate. It’s not to take away from the work and effort they put in and that’s important for us all to remember.

“All students have worked hard for this no matter what grade they achieved, they have all achieved something today.

“It’s a day of celebration for us,” Ms Kelly concluded.

On a similar tone, Principal Adrian Jackson of Carrick-on-Shannon Community School is equally thrilled with what he has seen today.

“It’s a really good set of results here in the school. We’ve had a number of students come in to celebrate with us and that’s been lovely to see,” Mr Jackson said.

“We’d love to go back to the days where we would distribute the results but we can’t hold back technology and therefore the students get the results online, but it’s been nice to see some of the students come in.

“We’re very proud of the class and what they achieved with their results today.

“There’s been a great sense of pride. We remind the students to take a bit of time to spend a bit of time to thank those who have supported them along the way, particularly their family and friends.

“If they’re going out this evening, make sure to look out for another and stay safe so they are well able to enjoy the road ahead whatever path they may take, here on out,” Mr Jackson added.

Congratulations to all Leitrim students on their great achievements and best wishes for the journey ahead.
