Pascal and Sinead Gillard with influencer Garron Noone at the Irish Food and Drink quality awards
The Drumshanbo bakery will add these awards to the five gold they won at the 2022 Irish food awards.
“They weren't giving out the golds as readily this year so we were getting a little anxious as the competition went on,” said Pascal Gillard, who co-runs the bakery with his wife and founder Sinead Gillard.
On the night they had to with until the last category before they struck double gold and managed to get a silver in the same category.
“We just threw a brownie mix together at Christmas ... and now we have a gold award for it,” he said.
The awards come just a week before the bakery takes their business nationwide after securing places on Lidl's shelves for their Irish Stout Bread Mix and Sophie's Scone Mix.
“The timing is perfect,” said Pascal, who will be doing a live cooking demonstration in Lidl’s tent at the ploughing Championship next week with Dáthaí Ó’Sé as MC.
He is thankful to the shops around Leitrim for supporting the bakery and gratful for the messages of support: ”We have a lot of support from people and that is the theme coming through,” He said.
