A total of 14 projects across Leitrim will share in funding of €615,233, it has been confirmed.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced €8.7 million in funding for community and sports facilities nationwide under the 2024 CLÁR programme.

Deputy Frank Feighan has this morning (Monday) welcomed €615,233 in funding for 14 projects across the County Leitrim.

As part of the initiative, grants of up to €50,000 are provided to support the renovation and upgrade of community centres, parish halls, GAA clubhouses, youth facilities and more.

Sligo Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan has warmly welcomed the announcement and has complimented the community and sporting groups who put forward good applications earlier this year.

He said the big focus of Minister Humphreys this year was to focus on outdoor projects such as playgrounds, sensory gardens, astroturf pitches, walking tracks, and community allotments. A recent feature of the CLÁR Programme is the investment in upgrades and improvements to spectator stands at local GAA and sports clubs.

“The Minister’s allocation as always, is very generous to Co Leitrim as before delivering significant new community, social and sporting infrastructure to so many communities across Co Leitrim," he said.

“I want to thank Minister Humphreys for listening to my lobbying for Leitrim and Sligo which is delivering over and above for this region and ensuring our potential as a place to live, work visit and invest in greatly enhanced”, concluded Deputy Feighan.
