Narrow road blamed for accident as authorities rule out storm-related causes

Truck in ditch at Arigna Village on Oct. 21

A truck accident occurred in Arigna Village on the morning of October 21, when a lorry slipped into a roadside ditch. According to an eyewitness at the scene, the truck veered off the narrow road as it was passing another lorry. The narrow stretch of road is known to be challenging, especially with the high volume of heavy vehicles that frequently travel the area due to nearby quarries and Arigna Fuels.

The incident is believed to have happened around 11:30 a.m. The presence of Gardaí and County Council staff on-site suggests that authorities have all necessary information regarding the cause of the accident. It is unclear if the recent storm may have affected road or verge conditions, contributing to the accident.

The high traffic of lorries in this area remains a concern for residents, with many heavy vehicles navigating the tight roads daily. Further details are expected as Gardaí continue their investigation.
