The event that is organised by local advocacy groups, including Treasure Leitrim, Love Leitrim, Save Leitrim, and Save Dough Mountain, with the goal of giving voters the opportunity to hear directly from election candidates on environmental issues affecting the Leitrim.
With a focus on climate change, biodiversity, and environmental protection, the hustings will allow the people of Leitrim to engage with candidates on their plans for tackling these challenges.
Organisers stress the importance of taking immediate action, citing global climate warnings such as floods, fires, and droughts.
Topics set for discussion include gold mining, forestry, fracked gas imports, and wind energy, giving voters the chance to question candidates on their commitment to protecting the environment for future generations.
All election candidates have received an invitation to take part before the event, according to organisers.
