Towns in South Leitrim still face water disruptions following storm Darragh

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water services to customers in Ballinamore and Drumshanbo who are still experiencing supply issues following Strom Darragh.

While normal supply has returned to most customers across South Leitrim, some customers in Aughawillan, Coraleehan, and parts of Drumshanbo are still experiencing low pressure or outages today.

Uisce Éireann is continuing to work to restore normal operations at water treatment plants in County Leitrim which were impacted by production capacity issues following Storm Darragh. Local reservoirs are depleted and are currently refilling.

“In the meantime, customers are urged to conserve water where possible in order to protect supply while the outages are resolved,” Said Kevin Lowe, spokesperson for Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love.

Alternative water supplies are still in place at Drumshanbo Mart; Fenagh National School; Mohill (opposite the Fire Station); St. Brigid's Church, Drumcong; The Square, Ballinamore (Opposite Garda Station).

Uisce Eireann has reminded customers to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communications about planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
