Leitrim TD Martin Kenny has said that the Dáíl should reconvene early as the county grapples with the aftermath of storm Eówyn.
The comments were made to OceanFM yesterday as around 170,000 people were without power nationwide, while Leitrim is still deeply affected.
“We have a situation where the whole country is devastated,” said Mr Kenny.
Mr Kenny’s comments have echoed calls from other quarters about the Dáil’s continuing their recess while people around the country are dealing with the damage of storm Eówyn.
“We need our ministers to be taking questions but also acting to be putting the procedures in place to resolve the situation,” he said.
Martin Kenny is the only Sligo-Leitrim TD not in government in this Dáil and is the only TD in the constituency-based in Leitrim.
After the chaotic process of electing a Taoiseach last Wednesday the Dáil went to recess to give new ministers time to get to grips with their new positions.
