Leitrim gardaí issue warning about bogus tradesmen during Storm Éowyn repairs

Gardaí have advised that there might be bogus tradesmen trying to take advantage of people in Leitrim in need of repairs to their homes

Gardaí in Leitrim have warned locals to be wary of bogus tradesman as they look to carry out repairs after damage caused by Storm Éowyn. 

A local garda spokesperson said: "As a result Storm Èowyn, a lot of property was badly damaged and in need of repair. Please be aware that there might be bogus tradesmen who will try to benefit from this".

"Please note the following advice, if someone calls to your house offering services: Ask for ID, note their details and if you don't know them or didn't call them, don't let them in," the spokesperson added. 

"Fit door viewer/chain/video doorbell and lock the back door.

“If unsure, please contact your local Garda station,” the spokesperson said. 

Some areas of Leitrim are still without electricity and other areas are undertaking repairs to damage caused by the storm.
