The St Patrick’s Day parade in Drumshanbo takes place on Sunday

Drumshanbo’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 16th, with Eamon McGowan, Leitrim Volunteer of the Year, acting as grand marshal.

He will lead the parade, which will enter town from the Carrick Road, travel down the Main Street, and head up Church Street. Float participants are asked to line up at Corryard Wood by 3:30 p.m.

Ahead of the parade, Main Street will come alive with music. DJ DL will be performing on the High Street stage at 3 p.m. to get the crowd into the festive spirit. Additionally, a Spinathon fundraiser will be held on the Main Street before the parade to raise money for children traveling to Lourdes.

“Come out and enjoy it !” says Committee member Oisin Dolan, who adds that the parade is open to all, with free entry for those wishing to showcase a float.

Prizes will be awarded for the Most Entertaining Float, Best Commercial Float, and Best Foot Float, as well as for the Greenest Adult and Greenest Child on the day.

Joining the floats will be a large entry of vintage cars and tractors from the Lough Allen Vintage Society, adding a special touch to this year’s parade.

There will be live music in the pubs around the town, so don't miss the fun and festivities in Drumshanbo this St. Patrick's Day!
